In the framework of this research project (financed by the Rheinland-Pfalz Endowment for Innovation) the history of the landscape's origins are portrayed. The history portrayal, for both laymen and experts, uses geoinformation and multimedia technology. The depictions consider geologic processes as well as human settlements and land uses. Starting from today's condition of the landscape and working backwards in time, the earlier conditions of the terrain was reconstructed in cooperation with employees of Vulkanpark GmbH and Mayen. We developed our own software to model the various volcanic events.
