Using digitally processed data from Longnon's historical map 'Carte de la Gaule après le traité en 587' (see project Digital Restoration of Historical Documents), a database is crated for interactive analysis and for output in textual or graphical form. A geographical information system (ESRI ArcView®) is applied for this purpose. Avenue as an object orientated script language was used to automate all steps of map composition. The contents of the database can be analyzed and combined in many different ways, allowing the creation of different maps and reports. Realization: |
