Geodata in the Internet

Projects

Example:
Atlas of Sustainable Rheinland-Pfalz (in German)

The need to present spatial data and to make such data available on the internet is increasing. Such data is used for any type of information system that contains spatially referenced data. Based on the steadily rising spread of the Internet, the needs of both those who provide services or products and those who request them are growing. Examples of information platforms requested by internet customers are city information systems, environmental information systems, positions of companies and route planning.

The i3mainz Institute focusses on research and development activities in this field and particularly on application-based problems. Our aim is to develop a toolbox with generic modules for the specific implementation of application-based problems. An example is the visualization of databank contents and their reference to geographic information.
