Our understanding of virtual reality is the interactive presentation and exploration of three dimensional data. Direct manipulative interaction with the objects may enhance the realistic impression of the content presented.

Virtual reality scenes created at i3mainz are predominantly based on real objects. Before these objects can be modeled, it is necessary to record them with surveying techniques (geodesy, scanning, photogrammetry).
Commercially available visualization tools are used as well as own methods for interactive vision.


Virtual realities have been developed for landscapes, cities, buildings and monuments (including reconstruction) and can be created for any other real object.
